More Like Original is an EP of chaotic, maximalist, jazzy, electronic fusion music that I've been slowly chipping away at since 2019. While I normally create orchestral fantasy music for tabletop roleplaying games, this kooky music is truly my bread and butter. If I could find a way to write this kind of digital fusion all day everyday and somehow make money from it, I would.

Some info about the music:

"Coastal Flux" was the first track I wrote after buying Native Instruments Kontakt back in 2019—that'll be funny for music producers and no one else. This was truly a production experiment that turned into one of my favorite tunes I've ever written.

I wrote "Big Dang Bonk" in a manic rush and immediately realized it needed some live bass to bring it to life. I hit up my oldest collaborator Honey Dax (the bassist from my very first band back when I was 13!) to lay down some sick bass lines. Honey obliged.

I initially recorded "Pneumatic Pulse Drive" to accompany a postal airship setting that I created alongside my team over at Borough Bound. If you dig the vibe of that track and also play tabletop games, you should absolutely check out the work we're doing over at BB!

"Sluicy" has a niche groove I've wanted to create for a while: a sort of 5/16 swing that makes you confused about whether it's in 4 or 5. Actually, a few of the tracks on this EP play with the number 5 in weird ways. Don't think too hard about that.

Rajin Shankar commissioned me to record "Pet Putt" for his indie video game of the same name a few years ago. Before the game was finished, Rajin got a sick job at Sucker Punch, so the game got shelved, but I still love this jam. Thank you Rajin for letting me throw this track on the EP and borrow the name of your game!

"Power Drain" started its life as a boss track from a game that I'm not allowed to name. The devs didn't like it, so here it is retooled from the ground up.

I started writing "Clear" with the intention of making a bittersweet closer for the EP. As soon as I got the chords and melody figured out, I reached out to Noel aka nokbient to help me build the track into something complete. Noel really helped me figure out the direction with this one, and the collaboration was super fruitful. It turned out way groovier and punchier than I could have imagined.
